June4Joyce is an annual fundraising event undertaken by the Department of Medical Imaging, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. It is held in memory of a much-loved colleague and is now entering its 7th year.
In 2018, our colleague Joyce was enduring the rigors of surgery and chemotherapy for gastrointestinal cancer. Joyce was an integral member of the Medical Imaging team for 20 years, a wife, mother of two gorgeous kids, sister and aunty, and a loyal, kind friend to many. To support Joyce’s young family the department decided to raise money in the month of June, calling it "June for Joyce". It was an amazing show of love and support and brought the whole department together with a common goal, so in her memory, each June, the department raises money cancer.
We are very pleased and grateful to once again partner with Joyce's friends at the Koroheke Golf Club for this year's fundraiser.
This year the Prostate Foundation of Australia has been selected as one of our charity recipients because every day 70 Aussie men are diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Congratulations to all of the June4Joyce fundraising team on a successful campaign, all in memory of the beautiful Joyce Henare (Soriano). She touched many lives within the DMI team and June4Joyce is a fantastic way to honour her memory.
