In Memory of John.

In 2015 John was diagnosed with prostate cancer, with no second thought John chose to have a prostatectomy and radiation treatment, after 2 years of being cancer free John found out the cancer had returned and metastasised to the surface of his brain, He then received targeted radiation shrinking the lesion on his brain. 

A year later John found out the cancer had spread to his lungs, lymph nodes, collarbone and hip bone, John then decided to undergo chemotherapy treatment and more radiation treatments. 

John’s cancer was very aggressive and continued to spread to vital organs, John was offered a place on a lutetium trail treatment, having injections every 6 weeks. This treatment gave him another 18 months where he spent his time making core memories with his family before he was later advised that his cancer had spread and was now terminal and there was no other treatments available.

In 2025 John was admitted to hospital with a partial blockage of his bowel, caused by a tumour pressing on his intestines, this caused John to be in and out of hospital where he later decided to return home on palliative care. Cared for by his wife Louise and the Silver Chain Palliative Care Team, John passed away 3 weeks later surrounded by his closest loved ones.

For 10 years John fought aggressive prostate cancer, never complained and always had a smile one his face. He never let prostate cancer bring him down and stop him from enjoying life with his family.

John was never a lover for flowers and expressed how instead he would like donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in his honour for support and research so maybe one day there will be a cure.
