In Memory of a Mate

I have ridden in eight of the PCFA Long Rides between 2010 and 2024. This year the ride will finish in Esperance but unfortunately, I cannot complete the ride.

I will be riding on the first day of the ride this year from Canberra to Rutherglen in memory of my very close mate, Chris Osborn, who passed away from prostate cancer on 27 June this year. We rode together in four PCFA Long Rides and around Australia in 2016.

He was a very special person and a great mate. He will be greatly missed. There will be several riders in this year’s ride displaying a photograph of Chris on their bikes.

Chris left it too late to be checked and that is the message being promoted during this and every PCFA ride. Men must not wait, if they think something may be wrong, they must see their GP. The ride also encourages their partners to convince them to be checked out.

Every day, 72 Aussie men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. That’s why I have decided to become an agent of change by joining the PCFA-Team.
