You’re our shining stars: Thank you for creating hope in 2022

06 Dec 2022

Hi A-teamers

It’s Jo here from PCFA. I want to start by saying a massive thank you to everyone who fundraised for PFCA this year – every event, every donation large and small, and every share on Facebook, all made a significant difference to our work.

2022 has been an interesting year to say the least. After two years of lockdowns and postponed events, many of you had the opportunity to get your fundraising back on track. From Big Aussie Barbies, to Gala Dinners, Biggest Ever Blokes Lunches, Rallies and Race Days – it’s been an incredible turnout across the country.

In addition, we’ve had individuals shave their hair, sell hand-made goods, skateboard between cities, run marathons and more – the passion has been absolutely heart-warming to see.

We also launched our first Walk for Him campaign in June, and saw over 3,300 people join The Long Run in September, and held a successful Giving Day in November.

To watch this community rally together behind each other and support everyone’s efforts has been inspiring and will stick with me for a long time.

Early next year, I will be going on maternity leave to welcome my first child into the world with my husband Dave. We’ve been reflecting on the importance of family throughout this time – and know that it takes a village to raise a child.

It reminded me of the importance of this family – the PCFA-Team. Together we support each other, lift each other up, share in the highs and lows, and provide encouragement when the going gets tough.

Thank you for being part of the PCFA family and for your dedication to our cause.

Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia, with over 24,000 men diagnosed every year. That’s a lot of men – but we know that with your support, our dads, brothers, and sons have hope.

Every dollar you raised has translated to more research, more nursing services and more support for men and families who need us.

Thank you for being our shining stars in 2022.

I hope you all have a safe and merry Christmas with friends and family, and I look forward to seeing you again in 2023 when I’m back from maternity leave.

— Jo Jones, PCFA-Team
